Tam Coc Garden Resort
Stone bungalows in a fruit garden, rice paddies and limestone peaks on every side.
Tam Coc Garden Resort is a small boutique resort that opened in 2013 in Hai Nham village, Tam Coc, about 4 km by road from the Tam Coc boat wharf. Its stone-walled bungalows sit in a walled fruit and flower garden surrounded by rice fields — best for couples and families who want quiet nights and free bikes rather than a town-center address.
Quick facts
Tam Coc Garden at a glance
Tam Coc Garden Resort is a low-rise boutique resort of stone-walled, tile-roofed bungalows and villas set in a large garden among the rice fields of Hai Nham village, in the Tam Coc area of Ninh Binh. Seven room types range from 50 m² garden bungalows to a two-story house with its own pool. The trade-off is distance: Tam Coc town is about 3.6 km away, a 15-minute bike ride rather than a stroll.
It suits couples and families who plan to cycle, take the boats and come back to a quiet garden, not travelers who want bars and restaurants at the gate.

Why guests choose Tam Coc Garden
Three things guests keep coming back to, each of them something you can check before you go.
Rice fields and karst from your door
The resort sits in open paddies rather than on a street, so most rooms look onto rice, garden or limestone peaks. Bich Dong Pagoda is 1.8 km away and Thung Nham bird park 2.7 km.
A garden, not a hotel block
Rooms are spread through a northern Vietnamese garden of fruit trees, herbs and ponds that supplies the kitchen. Walls are local stone, floors are patterned cement tiles, and nothing is taller than two stories.
Free bikes and morning yoga
Bicycles are free — ask the front desk to hold one — and a yoga session runs each morning for guests. The flat lanes to Bich Dong and Tam Coc are 10–18 minutes by bike.
Which room to book at Tam Coc Garden
Most couples book a Deluxe Tonkin Garden Bungalow or a Mountain Verandah Chamber; families with two children usually need the Family House. The real differences are the view (garden, rice field or mountain), a private veranda, and whether you get your own pool — only the Full Moon Villa and the Family House have one.
50 m² · Garden view · Queen or twin
Deluxe Tonkin Garden Bungalow
Best for couples who want garden calm at the entry price. Limit: garden view, not rice fields.

Is Tam Coc Garden right for you?
A garden resort in the paddies is a clear choice either way. Here is who it works for, and who would be better off in town.

Distances measured by road from the resort, rules read on the resort’s site and the booking page, and gaps marked where only the resort can answer. Facts checked October 2026.
Location & getting there6
Can you walk from Tam Coc Garden to Tam Coc town and the boat wharf?
Not comfortably. Tam Coc town is about 3.6 km away, roughly 48 minutes on foot, and the Tam Coc boat wharf is 4.3 km by road. By bike it is 15–18 minutes on flat lanes, and the resort lends bikes for free. After dark the access lane has no street lights, so take a taxi or ask the front desk to arrange a car.
How long does it take to get from Hanoi to Tam Coc Garden?
Plan on 2 to 2.5 hours by road from Hanoi or Noi Bai Airport, which is the time the resort itself gives. The Old Quarter is about 106 km away and the airport 133 km. Options are a private car, a limousine van to Tam Coc, or the train to Ninh Binh station followed by a 17-minute taxi.
Does Tam Coc Garden offer an airport or Hanoi transfer, and what does it cost?
Yes, the resort runs a private car at extra cost but does not publish the price. In October 2026 one large travel site listed the airport car at 1,850,000 VND per car each way for up to three guests. Ask the resort to confirm the current price when you book, and give your flight number.
Which train station is closest to Tam Coc Garden?
Ninh Binh station, 10.3 km away, about 17 minutes by car. Trains from Hanoi station take about 2 hours 10 minutes; in October 2026 seats cost roughly 95,000–177,000 VND. Taxis wait outside the station, or you can ask the resort to send its paid car to meet the train.
What should I tell a taxi driver to find Tam Coc Garden?
Give the address Hai Nham hamlet, Nam Hoa Lu ward, Ninh Binh, and mention Linh Coc pier: the resort is beside it and signposted from across the water. Older maps still show the former address, Ninh Hai commune, Hoa Lu district — it is the same place, renamed in July 2025.
How close is Tam Coc Garden to Bich Dong, Mua Cave and Trang An?
Bich Dong Pagoda is 1.8 km away (about 7 minutes by car, 10 by bike), Thung Nham bird park 2.7 km, Mua Cave 8.9 km (about 19 minutes) and the Trang An boat station 14.5 km (about 21 minutes). All distances were measured by road from the resort’s map pin.
Rooms & villas6
What room types does Tam Coc Garden have?
The resort lists seven: Deluxe Tonkin Garden and Premium Tonkin Garden bungalows (50 m²), Sunset Valley and Mountain Veranda (60 m²), Onsen Panoramic Valley (125 m²), Full Moon villa (130 m²) and the Maison Quê house (150 m²). The booking page currently sells five of them, with slightly smaller sizes listed for three.
Is the Family House at Tam Coc Garden the same as the Maison Que?
Yes. The booking page calls it Family House (135 m², one king and one queen bed); the resort calls it Maison Quê and lists 150 m². It is a two-story house with a kitchen, a washer-dryer and its own 60 m² pool. Guests report it sits about a five-minute bike ride from the main garden.
Which rooms at Tam Coc Garden look over the rice fields and mountains?
The Mountain Verandah Chamber looks over the paddies toward the karst from a private veranda, and the Full Moon Villa and Family House face the mountains. The Deluxe Tonkin Garden Bungalow looks into the garden. If a rice-field view matters, book a chamber or villa rather than hoping for an upgrade.
Which Tam Coc Garden room is best for a honeymoon?
The Full Moon Villa: 120 m² on the booking page, one king bed and its own pool. The resort’s site adds a 60-minute massage for two, an afternoon snack and a drink each at the pool bar for this villa. The resort also has an Onsen Panoramic Valley room with a heated private onsen, but it is not on the booking page.
Do rooms at Tam Coc Garden have a bathtub?
Some do, but the resort does not list which. Photos show freestanding tubs in the Full Moon Villa, Sunset Valley Bungalow and Mountain Verandah Chamber, and stone-walled, open-feel bathrooms in the bungalows. If a tub is essential, add it to your booking notes and email the resort; it is handled as a request rather than a promise.
Are the Sunset Valley and Mountain Verandah rooms open now?
Both are on sale on the booking page as of October 2026. One UK tour operator shows them as available from November 2026 without saying why. Check that your dates are bookable on the booking page and, for stays in late 2026, ask the resort whether any work is planned nearby.
Pool, spa & facilities5
Is the pool at Tam Coc Garden heated?
No. The shared outdoor pool is not heated in winter, and guests swimming in December or January describe the water as cold. From May to September it is the main place to cool off. There is a shared jacuzzi and a sauna as well; ask at check-in how warm the jacuzzi is being kept.
What are the spa hours at Tam Coc Garden?
Sati Spa opens from 10 am to 8 pm. Book treatments at the front desk a few hours ahead, especially for couples’ massages in the evening. Guests in the Full Moon Villa and the onsen room have a 60-minute massage for two included, according to the resort.

Are the bicycles at Tam Coc Garden really free?
Yes, bikes are free for guests; ask the front desk to keep one for you. They are simple town bikes with baskets, and several guests mention some have no gears, which is fine on the flat lanes. Ask about child seats in advance if you need one.
Is the Wi-Fi at Tam Coc Garden good enough to work?
The resort advertises free high-speed Wi-Fi in rooms and across the property. We have no measured speeds, so for video calls test it on arrival and keep a local SIM with data as a backup. There is a writing desk in every room type.
Food & drink4
Is breakfast included at Tam Coc Garden?
It depends on the rate you choose; the booking page shows rates with and without it. Breakfast is a buffet at Citronella Restaurant, roughly 6:30 to 10 am, with pho, an egg station and coffee. In October 2026 the booking page listed 400,000 VND per adult and 350,000 VND per child when paid at the resort.
Can non-guests eat at Citronella restaurant?

Is food at Tam Coc Garden expensive compared with Tam Coc town?
Yes, noticeably. Guests regularly rate the food well but call it pricey next to the family restaurants of Tam Coc town, 15 minutes away by bike. Many eat dinner at the resort on arrival night and cycle or take a taxi into town on the others.
Does Tam Coc Garden have vegetarian and vegan dishes?
Yes. The menus include vegetarian and vegan choices, and the breakfast menu has a vegetarian pho alongside the chicken and beef versions. There is no separate children’s menu, but the kitchen will make smaller portions on request. For gluten-free or allergy needs, write to the resort before you arrive.
Check-in & policies4
What time is check-in and check-out at Tam Coc Garden?
The booking page sets check-in from 3 pm and check-out by 11 am; some other sites list 2 pm and noon. Your booking confirmation is what applies. Early check-in and late check-out are on request — ask the resort when you book. The front desk is open 24 hours.
Does Tam Coc Garden take a deposit at check-in?
Yes. The booking page lists a cash deposit of 1,007,683 VND taken at check-in and returned at check-out. Bring Vietnamese dong in cash for it, as card deposits are not mentioned, and keep the receipt the front desk gives you until you leave.
Can Tam Coc Garden keep my luggage before check-in or after check-out?
Yes, luggage storage is a free service. Arriving on a morning train or leaving on an evening one, you can leave bags at the front desk and borrow a bike for Bich Dong or Thung Nham while you wait.
Is Tam Coc Garden the same as Tam Coc Garden Homestay or Tam Coc Boutique Garden?
No. Tam Coc Garden Homestay, Tam Coc Boutique Garden and Tam Coc Green Garden Bungalow are separate properties with similar names. Tam Coc Garden Resort is the one in Hai Nham hamlet beside Linh Coc pier, run by Amica Ninh Binh. Check the address before you book.
Families4
Do children stay free at Tam Coc Garden?
Under the resort’s own rules, one child under 6 sharing the parents’ bed stays free, children 6–11 sharing a bed pay a supplement, and from 12 they count as adults. A cot for under-2s is free. Booking-page room limits are stricter, often two adults and one child, so check before you pay.
Can I add an extra bed at Tam Coc Garden?
Not through the booking page, which states that extra beds cannot be added (cots can). The resort’s own rules allow one extra bed per room at a charge. For a third adult or an older child, the Family House is the simplest option; otherwise ask the resort directly.
Does Tam Coc Garden have connecting rooms for families?
No. The resort says it has no connecting or interconnecting rooms. If you book two rooms, ask the resort to place them close together; that is a request the resort tries to meet, not a promise. A family of four to six usually fits best in the Family House.
Is Tam Coc Garden good for young children?
For families who like gardens and bikes, yes; there are ponds to watch, a swing, a pool with a shallower section and child-size meals. There is no kids’ club and no lift, and the garden has open ponds, so small children need watching. Babysitting can be requested.
Practical4
Are there many mosquitoes at Tam Coc Garden?
Some, as anywhere among rice paddies and ponds, mostly at dusk. The resort uses lemongrass oil and puts up mosquito nets, and turndown service closes the room. Bring repellent for evening bike rides and dinners outdoors.
Does Grab work at Tam Coc Garden, and can I get a taxi at night?
We could not confirm reliable ride-hailing pickups at the gate, so do not plan a late return around an app. Guests say local taxis are easy to call and fairly priced; the simplest option is to ask the front desk to book one for both legs, and to keep the resort’s number for the trip back.
Should I bring cash to Tam Coc Garden?
Yes. The check-in deposit is cash, and boats, small restaurants and bike-route cafés in Tam Coc work mainly in Vietnamese dong. The resort offers currency exchange as a free service, but bring enough dong from Hanoi to be safe.
Does Tam Coc Garden have an elevator or step-free rooms?
No elevator. Rooms are single-story bungalows and chambers plus the two-story Family House, reached on garden paths, and most have a step or two at the door. Travelers with limited mobility should ask the resort for the most level room before booking.
When to go3
When are the rice fields around Tam Coc Garden golden?
The main crop ripens in late May and early June, the photos most people picture; exact dates shift by a week or two each year. A second crop ripens from about late September into October. From February to April and in July the fields are young and bright green.
Is it worth staying at Tam Coc Garden in winter?
Yes, if you want quiet: December and January are cool, misty and gray, and the shared pool is unheated, but boats and roads are calmer. Pack a jacket for evenings. For warm days with good light, September to November and February to April are easier.
How many nights should I stay at Tam Coc Garden?
Two nights covers the Tam Coc boats, Bich Dong and Mua Cave by bike; three lets you add Trang An and a slow morning in the garden. One night is possible but leaves little time with the 2-hour drive from Hanoi each way.
Bikes at the gate, the boats 10 minutes away
